    About Bonnie Henderson

My story began when I returned to college as a parent and was experiencing issues with co-parenting. I took what I learned in social work school; a strengths-based cognitive behavior approach (thoughts lead to actions) and applied it to my own life circumstance. I believe that my personal experience, education and developed life skills have worked together to help me become a better therapist; i.e., a master listener, empathizer and trouble-shooter. During the past 15 years, my clients have included children, adolescents, couples and families in addition to formerly incarcerated individuals who are re-integrating into family life and work. I also have experience with the child welfare system which can be helpful to families attempting to navigate through family maintenance and reunification. I have worked extensively with grandparents and extended family members (kinship) who are struggling to cope with new childcare responsibilities when children have been removed from their biological parents’ custody. People who experience depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, grief, anger management, PTSD, and ADHD-related issues are some of my favorite human beings to work with. Places I’ve worked include county mental health, group homes, out-patient clinic setting, prison and correctional settings and an in-patient adolescent psychiatric unit. My mission is to help you explore solutions to what you want to work on, providing personalized tools (coping skills) that give you the ability to reach your goals, make positive life changes and put a mentally healthier and emotionally stable YOU back in control!
